This image depicts the balance of power in the short-lived First Duma (1906), in the person of its chairman Sergei Muromtsev. The figure’s hands represent the left-wing and the right-wing parties of the Duma. The short verse that appears below this illustration tells us that the right hand of the man weakens, while the left hand becomes stronger.
We may assume that the text and the illustration hint at the situation of the constituent parties of the First Duma. The last paragraph of the poem explains that the First Duma was soon dissolved and the electoral rules rewritten.
