Mose Janashvili

Mose Janashvili was a Georgian historian, linguist, ethnographer, publicist and teacher. He was born in a Georgian Ingiloy community in Gakh (modern-day Azerbaijan). He was educated in Tbilisi and Kutaisi, and for several years, while contributing to dozens of projects, he worked as a teacher and later served as a professor at the Tbilisi State University. He was mostly engaged in the study of medieval Georgian chronicles, hagiographic literature and various historical artifacts.

The caricature is accompanied by a short, humorous biography of Janashvili. It praises his works in the fields of history and the Georgian language - ‘if Georgian History ekes out a living, it’s because of Mose’s work’ - while mocking his efforts in the field of literature - ‘according to a widespread opinion, Mose prefers poetry to prose, especially that of a ‘peculiar’ construction, to put it mildly.’
